Downtown Bakersfield

Downtown Bakersfield is the central business district for the city. Downtown Bakersfield is re-emerging as the center of Bakersfield's arts, culture, and entertainment sectors. What is considered Downtown Bakersfield varies, but in order to define the area we must define the central region. Downtown Bakersfield is bounded by the Kern River to the north, Union Avenue to the east, State Hwy 58 to the south, and State Hwy 99 to the west. Some of Downtown Bakersfield's notable attractions include: the Rabobank Arena, McMurtrey Aquatic Center, the Bakersfield Museum of Art, the Historic Fox Theater, the recently renovated Padre Hotel, and lets not forget about the nightlife district centered around 19th Street and Wall Street Alley. A couple of the neighborhoods located in Downtown Bakersfield are the Oleander-Sunset and Riviera-Westchester areas.
